After cerebrating about creating a mystical story for these blogpost pictures, I thought to celebrate instead. Celebrate to the fact that two bloggers belonging from the same country, based in different cities around the world are joining hands to collaborate and further spread our love for fashion. The location that is Baber Mahal Vilas makes you further lost in reverie. You are completely immersed in this dreamy location which helps you get your perfect shots. While Rhea Pradhan who I am collaborating with featly pairs up her look for this blogpost, I am taking guidance from her to put up my look at the last minute. Its the winter sun, so the perfect evening sunlight lasts for typically about half an hour before it gets pitch dark all at once. I could shoot an entire drama sequence in the corridors and terraces of The Baber Mahal Vilas. I am dramatic that way. My overcoat added to the drama quotient of the look. I left it unbuttoned mostly so as to twirl it around as I walk and pose for the camera. In this Vilas that is inspired by olden times and the original Babar Mahal, I brought along two of my grandmas old vintage sunnies which we used for this shoot. You can see us both wearing them in the pictures. These vintage sunnies have been around the time when my family lived in the original Babar Mahal which was taken away by the government after the fall of the Rana Regime post Indian Independence. The palace is currently occupied by Department of Roads, Office of Accountant General of Nepal and Nepal Oil Corporation. The Babar Mahal Palace was seriously destructed post the 2015 earthquake and has been evacuated by officials ever since. With permission from the officials, my grandfather took the whole family to visit Babar Mahal where he spent more than 30 years of his life and showed us all around one last time, incase the officials decide to break down the palace.
Rhea Pradhan aka @peppyowl is a fashion blogger based in Kathmandu, Nepal whose Instagram Page looks like a dream. Lets just say she aces her page aesthetics. A fact very few know about is that she is a really talented stylist and art director as well. Thats what I came to realise after seeing her curate the different looks I shot at the same venue. She exactly knew what she was doing and I could see it in the results of the pictures. We had the very talented photographer Santosh Chhantyal on board with us which added to getting the best shots.
Here’s the Outfit credits for Rhea’s look as well as an excerpt about her look:
Blazer by MODA
Flared trousers by TAXXI
Heels by MAD ABOUT
Earrings by ACCESSORIES NEPAL
‘I Styled a light grey belted blazer that could belong to the 80s but has a more contemporary feel with slim shoulder silhouette. The blazer features a belt that defines my waist. I Paired it with a long black flared trousers and added a little bit of height to balance the length of the trousers. And to soften the strong look I went for a streamlining circular gold earrings, and vintage tortoise shell micro glasses. A simple yet powerful ensemble.’
