When it comes to fragrances, I am always in the lookout towards a scent which has more fruity notes. Called the midday to midnight cologne, the Eau De Citron Noir by Hermès explodes us with their fresh citrusy notes throughout the day with undertones of musk from the black lime that slowly takes over by the night making it an extremely versatile cologne. This happens to be perfumer Christine Nigel’s cologne for Hermès.
Here is how she has described the cologne –
“Following a path through the olfactory universe of hesperidia led me into a vast world, dotted with surprises, with citrus fruits. Finger lime, Buddha’s hand fruit, Eureka lemon, kaffir lime… So many unusual varieties of citrus appealed to me, but it was the smoky and distinguished black lime that finally stood out as the key note”.
The Eau De Citron comprises of various members of the citrus family that creates the ideal scent of freshness along with the almost subtle woody and smoky notes of the black lime that gains its strength with time of appliance. The almost herbal scent right when you spray it on reminds me of my home back in Nepal, as lime in different forms (black lime included) is an active ingredient in our cuisine. That feeling of nostalgia almost elates me.
The Black Lime in the cologne dominates as the key note to this otherwise fresh and citrusy cologne. The top note comprises of Calabrian Lemon and Lime whereas The Heart has Black Tea, Citron, Lemon Blossom and Buddha’s Hand. Finally, The Base comprises of Cabreuva Wood.
This versatile cologne can be used at almost any occasion and will surely get you a bunch of compliments. I would go out of my way to compliment this refreshing and enticing scent.
