Royal Blue – Jodhpur ft. Philocaly Menswear

I relate to the term 'Feeling Blue' as feeling fresh, energetic and vibrant. I look at it from a more positive approach. Our only physical imagination of heaven is the sky, and when you look up, what colour do you see? Blue. hence I cannot associate the colour with anything negative. Jodhpur is a city I have been wanting to visit for a long time as it is popularly known to be the blue city where you can get atop a fort and overlook a city filled with blue houses. How lovely does that sound? Well it really is as beautiful as you imagine, but I must say that I always ignored the fact that it would be hot AF. Talking about hot, isn't blue a cooling contrast to that?…

Wearing an outfit that looks great on you makes you feel great and confident. Wearing the same, but which openly promotes free love and equality gives you a certain responsibility when wearing the outfit. Bobo Calcutta is such a label based in Kolkata that promotes love by choice and equality for all freely through the work of art created by Ayushman Mitra and incorporated as prints on his ready to wear label. Not to mention the outfits that are made without keeping in mind the gender of the people who would be wearing them. In other words, their outfits are gender fluid and every item of their label can be worn either by male or female. There are no barriers when it comes to gender in their label and that…

I happened to stay at this beautiful bed and breakfast inside the 800+ year old fort which also happens to be the first hotel that ever functioned in Jaisalmer. It is called 'Hotel Jaisal Castle' which you can book through Airbnb if you are lucky enough (Click here for the link) and I was completely enamored by the beauty of this stay. The windows of my room had a view of the whole city gleaming in shades of gold. To checkout the mind-blowing view, click here. They have a beautiful portico where I took these pictures. Living amid history and reading my grandfathers book namely 'Singha Durbar: Rise and Fall of the Rana Regime of Nepal' (available on Amazon and Flipkart) really blended well. Being the descendant of the Rana…

Hello to my fashionable readers. After a one month-long hiatus from the blogging world, I am back post a lovely trip to Rajasthan for my birthday and to shoot various collaborative blog shoots. That sure was a double dose of excitement that I felt before my travelogue to Rajasthan. But fate seemed to give me a graver challenge and I was diagnosed with high fever and tonsillitis from the first to the last day of my trip. Yes, this actually happened when I had so much work and leisure planned side by side. I sacrificed the latter part and made sure to complete the work bit of my trip. My photographer Prachi Sharma was kind enough to let me shoot fewer looks per day which extended the three-day multi city…

Rajasthan Calling!

Fashion, Travel
Well, its my birthday month and I love getting away from the conundrums of a metropolitan city to be at a quaint and beautiful place where I can absorb all the fruitful energies that the place offers so as to go back to the city of dreams all charged up and ready to face the world. I do not know how to explain, but I really need that time to sit back and just absorb all the activities and events that have taken place the entire year. It truly recharges you. I just visited home back in Nepal for a week so there is no clearer sign than for me to Visit my second home - Rajasthan this birthday. Well, time is running and this may sound crazy but i…

Breaking Gender norms: Sticking to your Gender fluid style.

Breaking Gender norms: Sticking to your Gender fluid style.

Fashion, Travel
Back in the early ages, clothes were worn not on the basis of gender norms but on the basis of basic shelter. Coming back to the present day, from Zara to Louis Vuitton, the creative directors have voiced their opinion in making gender fluid style more prominent. Go hundred years back and you wouldn't see a woman wear a trench coat and come back to the present times where you see a big name like Jaden Smith promote gender fluid style. For those who don't know, Jaden Smith did a campaign for Louis Vuitton for their women's collection. You could se him adorning a skirt. It was a great example set by a young man for so many other people to envisage that one shouldn't be judged by the kind…

A Royal Affair ft. Kesya Jaipur & The Tated

Event, Fashion, Travel
One of the days of the three day Holi invitation by HH Maharaja Padmanabh Singh of Jaipur at the City Palace was that called 'Days of the Raj' which also happened to be the dress code for the night. The setting of the event was sensational comprising of vintage cars, a royal throne with props that fit with the theme of the night, elephants dressed up in their colourful best and a gala feast followed by great music played beside the pool. I happened to be short on time but I still planned a proper backup. If time was in my favour, I would have tailor made an apt outfit. Instead, I kept in mind that there should be an essence of Rajasthan or their dressing style incorporated in my…

Red Set X DOC MARTIN

Red Set X DOC MARTIN

Fashion
When you own a pair of red kicks, you know it is a statement piece. Yes red may not be easy to match with your outfit, but once you get the correct tones and shades to match it with, you could end up grabbing a lot of good attention. Red really adds the vibrancy quotient in your attire which makes you feel fresh and young. Pairing red with darker colours, pastel colours and monochromatic shades seem to work wonders. So when I got hold of this beautiful pair of Doc Martin red kicks, I was determined to wear it with some pastel shades as I am too bored with seeing fashionista's go all black with their pair of red shoes (In reference to the Kanye West fashion revolution). Red goes very well…

Rajasthan - The place I have lived for 8 of my best years from the age of 10-18. Now this is a time frame which is a very important part in building up a persons perspective into life and various important and ethical matters. I may be from Nepal but Rajasthan will always be my second home. I studied in the erstwhile Mayo College, Ajmer which is one of the oldest schools in India dating back to 1875. It started off as a boarding school only for the families of princely states and the education given to them was similar to Eton College. Hence it gets its popular term as ‘Eton of the East’. For now I have not yet shot in the beautiful 336 acre large premise but I have…

Layering up in summers – Basics

Layering up in summers – Basics

Fashion, Travel
It definitely does make sense to layer up in winters but layering in summers sounds more like an Oxymoron. I feel it does hold a great value in terms of style. But in terms of comfort, one should focus on the textures of the clothes. Wearing light linen or cotton material for layering is apt as they are thin and lets your body breathe. While wearing textures, one must look into contrasting textures, as wearing the same texture from top to bottom may look odd. A contrast in texture makes your outfit look more satisfying. In this outfit I have contrasted my cotton tee and shirt with red coloured denim shorts. When it comes to colour, one should tend to wear light or pastel colours to fit best with summer…
